Earth Day Continued!

icon_sproutingcheatsheetHello dear reader!!

Can you believe it… I totally missed Earth Day! Me – director of the GREEN Chef Academy! The funniest part is that part of the reason I missed it was because I spent so much time walking in the sunshine + in the garden! Plus on a call with a group of fabulous raw food chefs who are actively making this world even better! I suppose I didn’t totally miss Earth Day! But I would have loved to do something special for it!

So I had this idea bright and early this morning, which I hope you’ll “dig”. hehe.

What about… Earth Day… CONTINUED…?!

For me, personally, I feel like planting new trees is WONDERFUL but really just a good start. And so are reducing, reusing, and recycling. But more important than this, again, for me, is being in an environment that is otherwise healing and lovely.

In my opinion, The Lamest Thing Ever is not plastic on the ground; it’s what I’ll call “emotional pollution”. You know, when we forget that the other people around us are human beings! So included on that list would be stuff like anger, hatred, animosity, impatience, etc.

But on the other side, it tickles me green when we appreciate the awesomeness in the people around us. (News Flash: EVERYONE has awesomeness to appreciate. EVERYONE) Same deal when we open our eyes to the beautiful things that are already happening.

So my idea for Earth Day (CONTINUED) is that we take a moment to honor the beautiful things that already exist in this world. The people who say lovely somethings to us. Or give an encouraging nod at just the right time. The parks that bring us peace. The beaches that bring us freshness. The restaurants that bring us gratitude. ETC.

And… just as a THANK YOU for being part of Earth Day (Continued), I’d like to give you something. Something that my intention was to SELL. A whole flippin’ set of somethings that’s pretty rad (especially if you make use of it!). I don’t know if I’ll keep them up forever, but I feel really strongly that this is a pretty Awesomely Perfect Earth Day Continued kinda gift!

And hey – if you know someone else who could use a little lift, send them on over to www.EarthDayContinued.com

Peace out, yo!

I live near the Rocky Mountain park entrance and have an annual pass, but I found out about national free park days. You can find them here http://www.nps.gov/findapark/feefreeparks.htm

I want to send a big thank you for the people who do that little bit extra to make other people´s lives easier – for me right now I´m thinking of the bus drivers who stop at the steps of my apartment building, rather than 20 metres down the road where the offical stop is, so I don´t have to jump into a pile of sand from the bus (also big thanks that I live in front of beautiful sand dunes!). They don´t need to do it, but it makes my day that little bit happier, and hopefully it makes theirs a little happier too when I smile and wave thanks :)
PS. I second what Sam said – receiving your emails, Eva, is like receiving a message from a friend :)

AH, Natasha! What a lovely lovely message! I love that you appreciate those things. I bet they know it too! It really helps to be appreciated for the things we do. It feels even better for everyone!!! Thank you again!!!!!! Love, Eva

Have you ever done letter boxing? It is so much fun and it is FREE! You can look up letter boxing online and find hidden treasures all over the country! We have looked them up for vacations as a fun thing to do with the kids. We adults like it too! We have done most of the ones we found around our hometown. All you need is a rubber stamp, ink, pens, a book to write in such as a journal and maybe a compass. So, maybe not 100% free but you might have all of those things already lying around your house!! Try it out!!! http://www.letterboxing.org/

OK – I just looked this up and IT LOOKS SO COOL! Looks like it’s just in North America on that site – so I’m TOTALLY planning to do it when we get back the USA. They even have some spots on Martha’s Vineyard!!!! I’m so stoked!!! THANK YOU for sharing this with me!! (US!) Yay!!!!!!! Love, Eva

Eva, there is a cook in my Co-0p’s kitchen who has been asking me about being raw. “Where do you get your protein?” He’s declared he wanted to eat in a healthier way last week, so today I brought up the addition of a liter of green juice/smoothie/elixer to his morning routine. He became quite excited at this empowering thought, as his wife has tons of green powders, etc. and already bikes all over Austin herself, and he’s trying to build up muscle to ride with her. Eva, I do believe Walter’s going to go Green!! Thank you for suggesting that solution in your intro video, the world is a happier place already, dear friend!

    • evarawposa April 24, 2014, 11:07 pm

That’s so cool CJ! Green smoothies are SO empowering in my opinion! Just do one thing differently but have major results, in many cases. Love it! Would love to hear how it goes for him. I’m just about to have a GS for dinner – actually 2 liters – we got a little crazy today! haha! Love, Eva

I just landed safely in Boston from Chicago. I love flying because it reminds me hhow very small I am in relation to the eart and is so humbling. Yet, we have figured out how to fly. We are so magnificent. Everything is really humnling and magnificent at the same time!

    • evarawposa April 24, 2014, 11:06 pm

Funny – I love the way you think! TRULY – it IS amazing! We haven’t done half of what we’re capable of as humans – yet when you think about it we have done so much!!! Glad you’re safe! Thanks for sharing Veronica!! :-) xxo Eva
